Founder of Chidoriya Corp.
Tomomi Yashiki · Current Owner / Founder, Chidoriya Corp.
The daughter of founder Osamu Horikiri. In 1987, she moved to the United States
and built her career in New York as a makeup artist, working with models and
actresses. Motivated by skin concerns experienced both by her clients and herself,
she began researching cosmetic ingredients. In 1999,
she founded Chidoriya Corp. in New York.
She saw how many people struggled with skin sensitivities caused by harsh ingredients.
A turning point: a single gift
One day, she received a handmade herbal water prepared by a friend’s
grandmother. After experiencing its remarkable effects firsthand,
Yashiki became determined to create cosmetics made exclusively
from 100% organic, natural ingredients. “Cosmetic ingredients
must be safe enough to consume, even if accidentally ingested”
—this belief became the founding principle of Chidoriya.
In 1999, Chidoriya Corp. was founded in New York.
The first product, created with a strong focus on Japanese-inspired
ingredients, was a soap based on camellia oil, featuring azuki powder
and black sugar. Since then, the brand has continued to develop
its own unique products using traditional Japanese ingredients
such as yuzu, green tea, rice bran, and shell ginger.
Inspired by natural skincare philosophy — pure ingredients like food.

Today, we serve customers worldwide with over 100 products inspired by Japanese tradition.
